Electricity is used to make lights and devices.

Lights use electricity as well as cars

Electricity can be used but make sure you turn it off after using it.

Cars use energy as well and other things

The energy we use can produce different things.

Remember to turn off your lights after it is used.

I remember to save power.

Cars use energy and electricity.

I remember to turn off lights.

Turn off things after it is used.

Your power and electricity cost money.

What I use electricity for

When I wake up, first thing I do is turn on my light. I am going to  tell you about what uses electricity.

We all use electricity right? Now I’m going to tell you about: What uses electricity.
Sense we use electricity we would already know. This is my writing of what uses electricity. When it’s dark we turn on the lights right? Well lights have electricity in it. When you want a coffee you boil the kettle. Kettles also have electricity.

At school we use chromebook’s and when it dies we charge it. When the teacher wants to show us something we use the projector.

I hope you learned something today.
   Thank you for reading.

Howick Historical Village

On Tuesday the 22nd of October my class and the juniors went to Howick Historical Village.

My class and I went to Howick Historical Village to learn about how people in the olden days used electricity. Howick was a big Village I felt like I was walking around the basin. A lady took us to a place where we can play games and learn how to be graceful. When the lady told us that girls in the olden days got married at 12 and 13 I was shocked! I learned that in the 1850’s people used fire to heat up their food and iron their clothing.

I learnt a lot and my favourite bit was playing the games.

Then White Sunday finally came, I was so nervous because people were watching us! We were finally ready so we went in front and began to sing people were laughing so I knew that they enjoyed it.

After our performance my nana came and gave us lolly necklaces.

Catch it

Image result for pictures on the movie catch it from esma

One day I woke up with a big yawn and stretch, and then I fell back to sleep. I popped my head out of my underground house and saw the sun shining on my face, my friends did the same. I looked at a large tree and saw a pink fruit, my friends and I climbed the tree and stroked the fruit. Suddenly a Vulture came and frightened my friends and I, we hid in our underground houses and with a blink of an eye he flew off with our fruit. My friends and I were furious and eventually we chased after him, we ran and ran until one of my friends jumped and hung on his legs! We made a ladder and when he flew higher and higher we fell, the fruit fell with us. We worked together to get the fruit away from the Vulture and we succeeded! The Vulture smacked into the wall we played and played with the fruit, then I kicked the fruit and it went between 2 trees then….
SPLAT on the ground went the fruit. We looked disappointed as if someone got a bad report.
THE END.

My Spring writing.

As I am walking, I can smell the fresh spring air, and the sweet flowers attract the beautiful butterflies and bees. The smell and the scent takes me away in peacefulness. I can smell each different and unique smell of flowers. It takes me away and then I forget all my bad moments. The smell fills my lungs as I rest. The sounds and the smell heals my headaches. I feel relaxed and my anger has gone. I feel like my peacefulness is dragging me into a calming world.   Image result for spring pictures garden

Spring Poem

Spring starts on the first of September.

Petals on the flowers are colourful and bright.

Rainbows appear but not often.

It rains so the flowers can grow.

New leaves start to grow on the trees.

Grass start to grow green and long.

The Sons of Ma'afu

Once there lived a chief named Ma’afu who had two naughty sons their names are Ma’afutoka and Ma’afulele. They always get in trouble. They would practice throwing their spears but never be careful where they throw them, once a spear ended up  in a man’s leg and
from now on he could never walk properly.

The villagers had enough so they sent them away to Atavahea to get water the chief didn’t want to send them away because he knew there was a scary and big duck there  but a good leader listens to his people, so the brothers got their coconut shells  and they went to Atavahea to get water. The boys started getting water when the big scary duck appeared, the two boys fought with all their might and they won, they gathered their water and travelled back to the village with the duck.

The villagers were still unhappy so they sent them to Muihatafa to get water but from the bottom of the sea, the chief looked at the two boys, he knew that there was a triggerfish and the boys wouldn’t stand it and saw that they were not even sorry so he agreed, Ma’afutoka and Ma’afulele got their coconut shells and travelled to Muihatafa. Once they got there they dived into the ocean and the triggerfish came swimming towards the boys, the boys fought with all their might and when they thought that they were going to drown one of them punched the fish through the gills and it stopped moving, since the fish stopped moving they both got water and headed back to the village.

The village was still unhappy so they wanted to send them away. Ma’afu the chief  wanted to change their minds but the people have spoken so the sons went to live in the sky so they can always look down and see their village.

The End

My culture.

My culture is Samoan but I was born in New Zealand. My dad was born in Samoa and my stepmom was born in New Zealand. Some days when I go over to my nana’s like on christmas evening we all kneel down and thank God.

I remember that when I was young My Nana would put candles around in a big circle and my cousins and also Jamal would have to sit down inside the circle of candles and if we didn’t listen we would get a slap on the bottom.

I respect my culture because as well as I respect my elders and my extended family. I love my culture because there are women that do graceful dancing and some even tell stories of what they have been through or what they heard, but that’s not all because Samoan is part of my family and I should be proud.

The one thing I hate is that I’m still learning how to speak Samoa and also to understand Samoa.

Here is a picture of the Samoan flag.

My trip to the Vodafone Event Center.

On Monday, Room 9 went to the Vodafone Event center and people from what now were filming us. It was a little bit boring but at the same time it was funny. When we first got on the bus we sang songs, talked and laughed and others would just looked out the window. When we got there, I was nervous because there were a lot of people around and students from different schools were there too. At the end we went back to school and pack up to go home.

Even though it was boring, I'm still grateful for going to the Vodafone Event Center. I wish I could go there again in the future.

Information Report

Bzzzzzzzzzzz. What is that sound? It’s a buzzing bee. A bee is an insect because it has 6 legs and 3 body parts head, thorax and an abdomen. Honey bees help pollinate the plants. They fly from plant to plant. Honey bees also collect nectar. They use their proboscis to suck up the nectar. The queen bee lays all the eggs and if the queen bee dies the other bees will get confused and they will just kill themselves. The bees are black and yellow. Bees have pollen baskets but only female bees have them. Bumble bees keep the nectar and put them into cells, and when the nectar dries it turns into honey and they save it for food.

Thank you for reading I hope you learnt something!

google draw.

Insect acrostic poem

Insects can be helpful.

Never disturb a bee or else it will sting you.

Spiders are not insects.

Everywhere you can see insects

Caring for our environment saves butterflies.

Too many ants marching on the wall

Some insects are bad to humans

SPIDERS!

My Weekend

On a Sunday morning I woke up tired. I wanted to go back to sleep but I had to go to church!

I got up still tired rushed to the bathroom, to the kitchen then to the room to get changed. I wore a white samoan dress with brown flowers on it, after I got changed I quickly did my hair then I was done. I put on my purple and white socks and ran outside. I was in such a hurry I forgot my medicine! I was in the car when I just remembered to take my medicine. It was too late because we were already on the road. At church we sang and prayed and it was so long, church finally finished and I could take my medicine.

Church is boring but my nana said that my brother and I have to go to church every sunday.

I am a Butterfly

I am colourful and pretty what am I ? A butterfly! I just came out of my cocoon and now I’m drying my wings. I go from flower to flower collecting pollen and spreading the pollen. Also my antennae helps me to feel, smell and taste the nectar. It also tells me which flower is safe to lay my eggs on.

I am really good because I help the flowers grow and I help the bees to collect pollen from flowers. I attach my eggs to a leaf with a special glue. My scientific name is Rhoplocera but I prefer to be called a butterfly.
