My Garden Poem
My Garden Poem.
A place where I hear the birds tweet.
The flowers giving off their lovely perfume oh so sweet.
Inside my garden awaiting for the blossom
Scaring the pests is so troublesome.
In my garden where my flowers grow tall.
In my garden I love them all.
Fruits and vegetables of all kinds.
Not in the front of the house but behind.
In my garden my quiet place.
In my garden there is so much space.
My garden is always there.
I wish I could take it everywhere.

Commenting on docs
Today I learnt how to comment on a google doc in many different ways. Our task was to comment on a random fact, a synonym for a word, write a positive, thoughtful and helpful comment, and add a action request for a friend. Here is my work.

Lockdown 2021
Day 1 - Lockdown 2021
August 18 another case of Covid - 19. Now we are on Lockdown!
Today Rm 10 had an online meeting at 11:30 am. I was super happy when I saw the faces of my friends and Teachers. It took a while for all of us to settle and get started.
Before we started our meeting Mrs. Raj said a few words. Unfortunately Mrs. Raj got mixed up with which meeting to go to because our teacher Mr. Nath had sent her two links to the meeting. So in one of the meetings her mic was on and in the other (which was the right one) was off.
Next we discussed the timetable and the time we have to be at the meeting.
After that we moved on to Maths. We had to convert simple fractions to decimals into percentages. For Example 1 ½ = 1.5 = 150%.That was the order we had to do it in.
I finished Mondays work along with Tuesdays and Wednesdays work.
We ran out of time so we had to say our goodbyes, but it wasn’t over yet because our next meeting was at 1:45.
Our Next meeting was the same as the morning meeting, but without Mrs. Raj.
It took awhile as well to settle down and get started.
First we focused on our Cybersmart. Challenge -19. This time it was Mr. Ferguson who did the challenge instead of Mr. Goodwin, the challenge was about google meetings. It was about how to use and how to attend the meeting.
Then we had to do a short blog about the day. Like: take a screenshot of all of us, write about it and how you felt and blog it. The one I did is already on my blog.
2:30 our day was finished and everybody said their goodbyes until the next time.
As Mr. Nath removed everybody from the meeting.
Bye Bye!! STAY SAFE!!

What is a plant?
What Is A Plant ?
A plant is a living organism that comes in different shapes, sizes and colors. Plants fill most of this world. Plants are special to us human beings because they produce oxygen for us.
Plants are all over this world there in waters, lands and seas. Plants are just like us humans because they need water and food. Plants need water to survive without it, it will dry up and die. Plants get their food from the sun.
Plants go through a process called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process by which plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create oxygen and energy with sugar.
Some plants don’t really get the things they need so they come up with strategies. For example the Venus fly trap. Whenever an insect comes close or in the mouth of the plant it closes its mouth and squeezes the insect until it gets devoured.
Some plants defend themselves from predators. like a rose bush. They defend themselves by growing thorns. There is a plant called the sensitive plant, whenever it gets touched it closes up to make it look dead so the predator will go and find a better plant.
Some plants are helpful and some are not. Some things like Poison Ivy are not one of the things you want to get close to. Poison Ivy got its name because of how you continuously itch.
See ya!

Kia Maia
Recount Writing
Story : Kia Maia.
Today at school, in the morning we started with reading. My group is silver, so we were focusing on a story called Kia Maia.
We only focused on the on the first part of the story which is the intro
“Ouch” the ball smashed into my face. “Are you okay?” My cousin asks me. “No I’m not okay as you can see I got hit by the ball !” I said sarcastically. Next we went inside but Nan caught us. “Great you're here you can help me with the mahi!” (Mahi means work.) I glared at the living room where all my grandparents were. They were playing chess and they were laughing. It looked like fun. “You can join them later.” Nan said.
We finally finished preparing the table and I went to go play chest but it was time to eat and I didn’t get to play chess.

Sun. That is just an example, now moving on!
Eclipsing the Sun. This is how the Moon Eclipses the Sun. When the Moon slowly comes in front of the Sun, a solar eclipse occurs. Once the Moon is in the centre of the Sun then the Sun looks like a black circle with a halo but it’s not a halo it’s the Sun’s atmosphere. As the Moon slowly crosses the Sun’s face the Sun shines again. Solar eclipses only occur when the Sun, Moon and Earth all line up in a straight line.
Moon Shadows. During a Solar eclipse the Moon casts its shadow on Earth. The Moon shadow has two parts: a small dark part called the umbra, and a larger and lighter part called the penumbra surrounding the umbra. From Earth you will see a solar eclipse if you are either the umbra or the penumbra of the Moon shadow.
Whole or part?
If you are the umbra then you will get to see the total eclipse of the Sun. But if you were the penumbra you will only see part of the eclipse. In the total eclipse the Moon covers the whole Sun until it looks like a black circle with a halo and as I said it isn’t a halo it is the Sun’s atmosphere.
Lunar eclipse. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon moves into the Earth's shadow. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are exactly or very closely lined up. With Earth between the Sun and Moon, during a total lunar eclipse During a total lunar eclipse, Earth completely blocks direct sunlight from reaching the Moon.
Thanks for reading!
I hope you learnt something!

Explanation
This week the yr 7 students in Rm 10 have been learning about how to write an explanation. Here is the example.
Explanation
Structure. | Example | Grammar |
General Statement to identify the topic - you can include a how or why question. Series of events. In time order, according to cause, or both. Conclusion Optional. | Dear Salima, The Moon is a big ball of rock. So it doesn't really change shape at all it just looks like it does. The changing shapes we see are called the phases of the Moon. The Moon orbits travel around the Earth roughly once a month. As it orbits, the amount of the Moon that we see lit up changes. This makes the changing shapes or phases we see. When the Moon is between the Earth and the Sun, all the sunlight falls on the far side of the Moon that we cant see. This means we don't see any Moon at all. This is called a new Moon. As the Moon moves on, a little sunlight creeps around the edge, we can see half the face of the Moon lit up. This is called the first quarter. As the Moon moves on, each night we can see more and more of it lit up. When it is halfway around its orbit, it is one the other side of the Earth of the Sun. All the sunlight falls on the side facing Earth, so we see a full Moon. After this, the phases go in reverse and each night we see less and less of the Moon lit up. Finally the Moon is back between the sun and Earth and we have a new Moon again. Then the whole orbit starts again. In ancient times, people told stories or legends to explain the phases of the Moon. some told of monsters or giant birds taking bits out of the Moon. Others told of the Moon getting thinner and thinner when the moon god forgot to eat. Today we have science to explain what really happens | Proper noun Technical or topic words Action verb Words to show time sequence. |
How Paper is recycled
How Paper is Recycled
Paper that has been used can be recycled.
First, people put used paper into special bins. Then, council workers take the paper to a recycling factory.
At the recycling factory, workers sort and shred the paper.
Next, the machines mix the shredded paper with boiling water and chemicals to make a pulp.
After that, the workers pour the pulp into paper - making machines that make the new paper.
Finally, machines make the new paper into products like writing paper, paper bags, paper towels.
Paper is recycled so that it can be used to make other paper products.
Nouns Present tense Time and sequence words.
A poem about friendship
A poem about friendship.
A friend is someone who you can trust,
And pick you up when you are rust.
A friend is someone who will stand by you,
And never turn their back on you.
A friend is just like glue, because he/she
Will always stick to you.
A friend is someone who can cheer you up,
No matter what.
A friend is someone you can ask for help and someone who will always be kind.
A friend, A friend, A friend.
A friend is someone who will help you all the way through, and is someone you can respect and they can respect you too.
The End.
